Making new cards is a whole lot of fun, especially when they’re for happy occasions,
like Valentine’s Day.
Let me take you for a short walk “behind the scenes” of each of our four new cards.
If I had a hundred hearts, they'd all love you.

If I had a hundred hearts, they’d all love you.

When it was time to start to think about creating this year’s Valentine’s Day cards, I started to reminisce about our grade school card distribution. That’s where the idea of ‘a hundred hearts’ came from: some of my more caring comrades made sure that they put a Valentine’s card on every desk – so that no one would feel left out.

Love is patient and kind.

Love is patient and kind.

Anyone who has ever been to the beach has undoubtedly written a message in the sand, only to see the waves come in and wash it away. Kim & John took this photo during a recent trip south and it seemed perfect for that wonderful “Love is patient and kind …” bible passage. This card would also be ideal for newlyweds.

Together. Forever.

Together. Forever.

Together. Forever. It’s a super-simple message, yet profound. I wanted to make a card that would speak to ordinary people, which is why I didn’t try to photograph young and perfectly manicured hands peaking out of designer sleeves. Jane & John Doe have been a couple for a while now. Here they are, strolling TOGETHER in the garden, FOREVER in love.

Nothing's sweeter than you!

Nothing’s sweeter than you!

Honey. Pollen. Mead. (I just had to look that word up in the French-English dictionary. In case it’s new to you too, mead is an alcoholic drink made from honey that was drunk in the past.) Add a honey dipper and a fresh baguette (which I ate after the photo session!) and you have the props for this “Sweetie” card. Can you read what I wrote on the labels? The pollen has been baptised “Love Seeds”, the mead is “Love Juice” and the honey label says, “You’re sweeter than Honey”.

Kim and I wish you a
Happy Valentine’s Day
and hope you’ll be able to spend it with someone you’re sweet on!
